Pretty Rocks and Nature Walks
Willett Creek Agate offers guided rockhounding tours on the W Diamond L Ranch in Northeastern New Mexico. We have several thousand acres available with a number of great rockhounding areas.
My specialty is rosebud agate, a variant of often blue, white or purple chalcedony with hematite and iron oxide inclusions that resemble rosebuds. There is often banding, and occasionally moss agate. It can be found in sources in New Mexico and Colorado, and in the Arkansas and Cimmaron rivers in Kansas and Oklahoma upstream erosion.
So if being in the middle of nowhere with spotty cell service and the solitude of nature are your thing, (oh and rocks!!) come spend a day recharging in nature and rockhounding some amazing New Mexico agate. There are also opportunities for wild harvesting, nature and wildlife photography, or just meditating in the trees and nature.
We are located 43 miles north of Clayton on NM Hwy 370. If you have questions, need more information, or want to visit my online shop, you can find my contact info and important links here.

Scheduling Notes for Guided Rockhounding Tours
I maintain a one day buffer in the schedule in case I have something unforeseen come up. You can contact me by phone/SMS or email to check availability for same day tours.
There are two time options available when scheduling. If you need a different time such as afternoon or late morning, etc please add it to the notes field. I will confirm with you.
Guided Rockhounding Tours: What to Expect
When you arrive at the house, we’ll have a bit of paperwork, and you can browse my rock collection. Then we will travel a short distance by vehicle or hike to the appropriate site for your tour. I can loan you a five gallon bucket, but if your coming in a large group, I only have a few buckets. Bring plenty of water and snacks. If you want to bring a lunch and eat on the trail, no problem.
Except for special events, I only book one person or group at a time, so you have my full attention. I will help load and carry rocks to your vehicle. When we’re done, we’ll head back to the house for a weigh in and checkout. You have my time for the full day of your rockhounding trip.
Planning Your Rockhounding Tour
Below is information and directions to help you plan your trip to Willett Creek Agate Co. You will need to sign a release of liability and acknowledge our collection policies when you check in. You can read the Willett Creek Agate Collection Policies here.
I’m an avid rock hound especially since I retired. I read that you have rose bud agate on your place. I’m interested in finding some when I can get away. To schedule a visit, do I send a message and wait for your reply?
Thanks
