I want to build the ultimate New Mexico rockhounding website. I need your help.
My other main hustle is web design and e commerce. Over the years I’ve acquired a few prime domain names that I pay for, but haven’t yet developed.
Building a New Mexico Rockhounding Website
One of the domains I own is perfect for building an informational blog forum and advertising site for New Mexico businesses and organizations that offer pay to dig sites, guided rockhounding tours, retail rock sales, lapidary equipment and services. Advertising from auxiliary businesses will be accepted as well, including hotels, restaurants, etc. In addition to the site, there will be a social media component to help boost traffic growth.
The site and accompanying social media will target an audience that is considering or likely to travel to New Mexico for a rockhounding vacation. This is a considerable market, and as far as I know there is no authoritative site for rockhounding tourism in New Mexico.
I’m looking for a few small business people for a collaborative effort to promote New Mexico rockhounding tourism in all corners of the state.
Here’s What I Bring
- A top level premium website domain name, that’s been quietly aging for a couple of years, while I’ve worked on the concept and basic design.
- The skill set to build and securely manage a WordPress website and manage social media for this project. This includes keyword and SEO management, analytics, and e-commerce, etc.
- I’m a writer, content creator, and small business owner with a passion for rockhounding.
What I Need
- Content creators specializing New Mexico related lapidary or rockhounding content.
- Business owners with passion for rockhounding in New Mexico and immediately surrounding areas.
- Willing to invest with effort and/or funding as TBD
- WordPress experience is a plus, but not required. It’s easy enough to learn the basics.

A small group of passionate people with the ability and a little time to give this project, can build and operate a useful community resource that returns us a diversified income stream and supports the New Mexico economy.

You Ask “What’s In It For Me?”
Ultimately, compensation, equity and return on investment is ultimately up for discussion between the final participants. However, free advertising and cross promotion for your business, ad revenue sharing, merchandise revenue sharing, and more are all possibilities to be discuss. This is a ground up build.
There’s also the satisfaction of building a resource that bolsters the local and shop small business economies of New Mexico, and provides valuable information to the rockhounding community.
