Important Update: Willett Creek Agate Facebook Page

Important Update: Willett Creek Agate Facebook Page

Important update. It’s already turning into one of those days. I went to bed pissed at FedEx for yet another failure to perform the job they’re paid to do. Woke up still mad about it. I did finally get my deed paperwork package today.

Then I get an email from Facebook this morning that my personal account is suspended for not meeting community standards. This also affects my business pages, and messenger. They stated that I have 180 days to appeal and get verified (payment racket). Won’t tell me what content allegedly violates the standards. The usual.

It appears that I still have access to Instagram and Threads. And so far I still have access to the WCA page through Meta Business suite though it is also limited in functionality.

I will not be appealing or trying to set up a new account on FB. I’m done. The only reason I really still messed with FB was for the communities I’m apart of including rocks and minerals, nature, photography groups, and more.

I’m Done with Facebook

I have been fed up with Facebook for a long time. I recently had a Willett Creek Agate post targeted for cybersecurity and attempting to steal someone’s identity. The post was about a tombstone in Colorado Springs belonging to the long dead scientist Lazard Cahn for which the mineral Cahnite is named.

Grave of Lazard Cahn, the scientist for which the mineral Cahnite is named. The gravestone is a replica of a Cahnite crystal.

The scammers, the spammers, the ad and verification rackets, removing facts, and all the rest contributes to my decision. I just don’t have the energy for Zuck’s BS any more.

Going Forward

Moving into the future, I will continue develop the Willett Creek Agate community and produce rosebud agate and rockhounding content on various platforms other than Facebook.

The preliminary plan is to make YouTube my primary focus, with similar posts spread across the other socials. I don’t know what a live sales forum will be just yet, but I’ll figure something out.

I once provided a proposal to a web design client to build a social media type site for his political community for much the same reasons. Ultimately it didn’t happen, however this is something I am considering incorporating into this site. Leave me comment or send a message if this is something you could get behind for the rock and mineral communities. It’s definitely possible, but will take a few of us working together to make it a reality.

Support and Gratitude

I try to say thank you to this community often. I feel like it is never enough. Please know that I truly appreciate all of the interactions, comments, sales, and kind messages. This community has my deepest gratitude. I have had some very dark days the past couple years, and you all have been my light. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!

I hate asking, but I could use some help filling the gap in my expenses as I take the final steps to move. You can support me by visiting the shop and making a purchase. Contact me as outlined above for a custom order, or make a donation at Buy Me a Coffee.

You can find my bus life wish/need list here if you want to help with that.

Thanks Again and happy rockhounding!!
