Willett Creek Agate Signal Group Announcement

I want to officially announce the Willett Creek Agate Signal group, a new home for the Willett Creek Agate Community and Marketplace. In my previous post I discussed my issues with Facebook.

Consider WCA Facebook Group Unsecure & Unmoderated

While I still have limited access to the page and messages through business suite, I no longer have any access to or control of the FB group. There was one moderator account, and he informed me that account is compromised due to an unrelated and ongoing issue related to a recent phone company hack. So the Facebook group should be considered compromised. If it is even still active, it will likely be overrun with offshore scammers soon.

A Big Ask 🙏

I’m setting up a group on Signal as the new home for the Willett Creek Agate Community. I know this is a big ask to figure out a new messaging app. I hope you’ll join us. Keep reading or scroll down to find an invite link.

What is Signal?

Signal is a fantastic messaging app that puts your privacy and security first. One of the great things about Signal is its group feature. We can easily share updates, discuss ideas, and build a closer community. It’s more interactive, and we can build an amazing community.

Because Signal uses end-to-end encryption, you can be sure that your conversations and the information shared within these groups stay private and secure, away from prying eyes. This means they can connect with you and each other in a safe and confidential space, fostering a more authentic and trustworthy community.

It’s a great way to build stronger relationships and share exclusive content with peace of mind!

Signal Security: End to End Encryption & Widespread Adoption

The Signal Protocol is a cornerstone of secure modern messaging. Its robust end-to-end encryption has become the gold standard, leading to its adoption by major platforms like WhatsApp and Google Messages. While not every messaging service uses the entire Signal codebase, the widespread integration of its protocol signifies its profound influence on how we communicate securely online.

This widespread adoption offers a subtle but significant benefit for new users. As more apps implement the Signal Protocol for encryption, the underlying security mechanisms become increasingly standardized. While the user interface and specific features might differ across apps, the fundamental promise of private and secure communication, powered by a familiar and trusted protocol, becomes more consistent. This can build user confidence and make the transition between different secure messaging apps smoother, as the core security principles remain the same.

Willett Creek Agate Signal Group

The new Willett Creek Agate Signal group builds upon the Facebook group. And has the potential to take this community to the next level.

The structure of Signal groups differs from Facebook in that it is a messaging group. With Facebook, you share content and wait for likes, shares, and comments.

On Signal, we can share messages with photos, videos, and more as a group. We’ll also have the ability to connect with each other individually more easily.

Video and Phone calls are available options also. I can envision video calls for sales, educational discussions, rockhound event planning, and so much more. I’ll add additional admins who have experience in various areas to help manage the group and facilitate great content.
